'The area is a tourist's dream, our stay was far too short - we just have to come back'
Margaret Wilson, NY, USA

Local delights abound

These are the local highlights:

Schiehallion

SchiehallionThe Hill of the Fairies, one of Scotland 's most shapely and famous mountains permanently casts a watchful eye over proceedings at the hotel and its conical shape once allowed physicists to use its gravitational attraction on a pendulum to calculate the mass of the earth. An easy and superb ascent.

Queens View

Queens ViewThis magnificent outlook is world famous and can be enjoyed at the eastern end of Loch Tummel, only a few miles from the hotel.

West Highland Line

Arguably one of the most exhilarating railway journeys in the world, passing as it does in quite spectacular and dramatic fashion through glens, round mountains, over moors and round lochside edges. And in the summer enhanced by the Jacobite Steam Train, between Fort William and Mallaig, following the famous 'Road to the Isles', combining the romance of steam with simply beautiful scenery.

Pitlochry

PitlochryOriginally three small hamlets, now combining to become one of Scotland's best loved perennial tourism destination with an incredible array of choices from distilleries, a theatre, castles, a range of Scottish highland events, walks, cycle routes - incredible scenery - some of the best in Scotland, to clan trails and history - and not to mention a delightful 18 hole golf course.
